Code of Conduct

NZHS‑4 Code of Conduct

The New Zealand Hydrogen Symposium 4 (NZHS‑4) is committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment that reflects the values of Aotearoa New Zealand, including manaakitanga (hospitality and care), whanaungatanga (connection and relationships), and kaitiakitanga (guardianship and responsibility).

Our Commitment

We welcome participants from all backgrounds and identities, and we strive to create a space where everyone feels safe, valued, and heard. This includes respecting the diverse cultures, languages, and perspectives that enrich our communities.

Expected Behaviour

All participants—attendees, speakers, organisers, sponsors, and volunteers are expected to:

  • Always show respect and kindness to others.
  • Engage in open, thoughtful dialogue, acknowledging diverse viewpoints.
  • Uphold the principles of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga in all interactions.
  • Respect the tikanga (customs) of the land and the University of Auckland as our host venue.

Unacceptable Behaviour

Unacceptable behaviours include, but are not limited to:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
  • Offensive or exclusionary language or behaviour.
  • Disruption of sessions or events.
  • Retaliation against individuals who report concerns.

Reporting and Support

If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please contact a member of the organising committee. All reports will be handled with discretion and cultural sensitivity.

We are committed to addressing concerns promptly and appropriately, which may include issuing warnings, removing individuals from the event, or notifying relevant authorities.

Inclusivity and Accessibility

NZHS‑4 is dedicated to ensuring the symposium is accessible and inclusive. If you have specific needs or concerns, please reach out to the organising team so we can support your participation.
